Battle of the Bands, Feb 25th

The Teen Center without Walls, a project of Washtenaw County’s Washtenaw Area Teens for Tomorrow (WATT) was created by students from county high schools to offer safe youth driven activities for peers throughout southeastern Washtenaw County. Since that geographic area doesn’t have a teen center, these activities are designed to give local youth safe, teen-driven events and places to have fun and interact with youth from other communities.

Recently, the Teen Center without Walls project received modest start up funds from a Washtenaw County Children’s Well-Being Grant and from a grant from the Ann Arbor Area Community Foundation’s Youth Council to support these activities and provide opportunities to build bridges and promote positive youth development.

The first inaugural event will be a NO COVER Battle of the Bands and All That” to be held at Lincoln High School at 7pm on Saturday February 25th. All Washtenaw area teens are invited to attend the event.

Auditions were held at Lincoln High School on Thursday, Feb 3rd and at Saline High School Wednesday February 8th.

Prizes will be awarded to the top three winners, and a number of door prizes will be provided.

Future upcoming planned events will include a March talent showcase co-sponsored with Ypsilanti Area Youth Empowered to Act (YYEA), a sports night to be held in Ypsilanti, and a Battle of the Bands to be held in Saline.
